And the grand finale: the tree trunk comes out two days later with only a little bit of encouragement. I gotta say, it was quite unnerving to see that giant thing birthed from inside my thumb.
Thumbs up for what exactly? Bacteria? Hospital food? The nurses were nice, at least.

Got my vacation week off to a glamorous start with a 24-hour slumber party at St. Mary’s hospital for a severely infected thumb courtesy of a single, stupid, goddamn splinter. This was the view above the ER examination table. Cheerful or morose? I couldn’t quite decide.
